Bengaluru: The Chief Minister is holding a rally in Hassan to strengthen his position, claimed Nikhil Kumaraswamy. He alleged that the rally is being conducted for personal gains, bypassing even his own party.

Addressing the media, Nikhil said, “This rally is a show of strength aimed at gaining the attention of national leaders. In our view, this rally is not meant to send any message to the JD(S) or BJP.”

“What is the purpose of the rally?”

When asked if the rally in Hassan could harm the JD(S), Nikhil responded, “Anyone can hold rallies anywhere, and this doesn’t raise questions of setbacks for us. Elections are three and a half years away—what is the purpose of such a rally now?”

He further criticized the government, stating that it is organizing such events to cover up its failures. “The public questions the achievements of this government. The administration is drowning in corruption scandals,” he said.

Referring to recent developments, he mentioned, “Even Congress MLAs from Hospet are demanding funds allocated for two guarantees to be reduced and allocate more grants to their constituencies. It has been just one and a half years since Congress came to power, and their own MLAs are voicing dissatisfaction. We have witnessed them retracting their statements within hours, highlighting their dire situation.”

Nikhil went on to attack the Congress government, claiming, “While Congress MLAs complain about the lack of funds, what about JD(S) and BJP constituencies? Not a single rupee has been released. The government is not providing any development funds, and this is the grim state of affairs in the state today.”

“Yogeshwar jumps ship to party which offers him the highest price”

Addressing the statement by CP Yogeshwar about poaching JD(S) MLAs, Nikhil commented, “Yogeshwar joined Congress seeking the highest package. The question is, how long will he remain in Congress? None of our MLAs are in a situation where they would follow him to join the Congress.”

“There is no discontent within our party”

“Our MLAs are emotionally and personally connected beyond politics. They are in constant contact with me and discuss issues like funding for constituencies. None of our MLAs are discontent. In contrast, discontent is growing within Congress, and it is up to the Congress party to retain their MLAs,” he remarked.

“Targeting one community to appease another”

Commenting on the FIR and notices against the Vokkaliga seer Chandrashekhar swamiji, Nikhil said, “Since coming to power, the Congress has been targeting one community to appease another. The people will give a fitting response in the coming days; we must wait and watch.”

On GT Devegowda’s discontent

When asked about senior leader GT Devegowda’s discontent, Nikhil responded, “This is not the first time. Whenever there has been discord, I have worked as a bridge to resolve it. I have made sincere efforts to bring him back into the party fold in the past and will continue to do so. Senior party leaders, including myself, will address this minor discord in the coming days.”
