Mumbai, Nov 9: Castigating Mahayuti leaders for spreading disinformation on Karnataka government’s guarantee schemes in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today openly offered to arrange chartered flights and buses for its leaders to visit Karnataka and witness the success story of guarantee schemes.

Addressing a press conference in the Pradesh Congress Committee office in Mumbai, he said, “BJP had carried out a disinformation campaign on Karnataka government’s guarantee schemes by issuing false advertisements. I am here to expose their lies. The Mahayuti leaders can visit Karnataka anytime and see for themselves the success of our guarantee schemes. I will arrange chartered flights and buses on behalf of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.”

“Karnataka’s GDP growth rate was 8.2% before the implementation of the guarantee schemes, but it has now risen to 10.2%. These are not my numbers, these are the numbers released by agencies of the Union government,” he said.

“We are contemplating legal action against the parties which have launched a disinformation campaign. They are spreading lies about the Karnataka government which delivered on all its promises,” he added.

BJP has copied our guarantee schemes

“All BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi ridiculed the five guarantee schemes of Karnataka government when they were launched. Ironically, the same leaders are copying our schemes and are promising similar schemes in other states. These guarantee schemes are Congress party’s pride. The BJP is trying to copy them,” he noted.

“The guarantee schemes were not announced blindly. This is the result of interactions with lakhs of people during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. The Bharat Jodo Yatra traversed for 22 long days in Karnataka. Our leader Rahul Gandhi interacted with thousands of people from various sections of the society. Price rise and unemployment were the most raised issues by the people. The five guarantees were launched in order to give relief to the people,” he explained.

“We announced 200 units of free power under Gruhajyothi, 10 kg of foodgrains under Anna Bhagya, Rs 2000 for woman head of the family per month under Gruhalakshmi, free bus travel under Shakthi and monthly allowance of up to Rs 3000 per month to unemployed youth. All of these schemes have been implemented and are running currently,” he added.

“The Congress government, which won 136 seats, gave in-principle approval to the five guarantee schemes in the very first Cabinet meeting. The government is spending Rs 52,000 crore on these five schemes and we are contemplating of increasing that to Rs 56,000 crore. Karnataka is the land of Basavanna. We walk the talk,” he noted.

“When Congress party comes to power, all segments of the society are empowered. All schemes launched from the days of Jawaharalal Nehru to Manmohan Singh are continuing even today and none of them have been withdrawn. There are many other aspects which have come to our attention during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. The guarantee schemes are the foundation, there are many more things to come,” he added.
