Ramanagara: In response to the statement by Deputy CM DK Shivakumar that he has donated 25 acres to a school, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy sharply questioned, “Is he a descendant of a king to give away so much land?”

He made this remark while speaking to the media in Mukunda village amidst the election campaign in the Channapatna constituency.

“Where has he given land? Has he given 25 acres? If he has, let him present the records to the people—I would be happy as well. There should be a limit to false claims. I haven’t put up boards saying, ‘I did this or that,’ as he does. But the people know how much development I have contributed to the state’s education sector,” he added.

“Notice my contributions to education”

“Before I became CM, how many colleges and high schools were there in the state? And how many were established during my 20-month tenure? The records will show it, anyone can check. What is this person’s contribution to the education sector? Let him list what he has achieved as MLA of Kanakapura, minister, and deputy CM. Despite being in power for so long, why does he not receive a lead in his own native Doddaalahalli? We don’t know if he donated 25 acres or just 25 guntas. I work as a public servant,” Kumaraswamy said.

“We never said we’d pull out groundnut plants; we said we’ll uproot the government”

When reporters brought up DK Shivakumar’s comment that “uprooting the government” does not mean pulling out groundnut plants, Kumaraswamy clarified, “We never said we’d pull out groundnut plants; we said we’d uproot the government itself. The people want this corrupt government uprooted. Deve Gowda only voiced the people’s sentiments.”

When asked about DK Shivakumar’s remark that if given permission for Mekedatu, they would build a dam in just three years, Kumaraswamy responded, “First, let him convince his ally DMK. It’s our responsibility to get central approval. His ally is sitting there with objections—let him first address that.”

“Nikhil’s victory is certain”

The people of the Channapatna constituency are favoring NDA candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy. They have observed the work of the Congress candidate who has served five terms under different parties. Now a young candidate is contesting, and the people are saying, “Let’s give him a chance,” Kumaraswamy mentioned.

“I, too, have visited 122 villages this time. Nikhil has covered 190 villages. Deve Gowda and BJP leaders are also working together to counter the Congress. Thus, Nikhil’s victory is certain,” the minister stated.
