Uttarkashi, 05 June 2024: Update on the rescue operation conducted for the 22-member trekking team stranded due to bad weather on the Silla-Kushkalyan-Sahastratal track:
Rescue work details-
1-A total of 11 trackers were brought to Natin helipad by Air Force helicopter, in which 08 trackers have been dropped at Sahastradhara Dehradun through 02 civil helicopters. 03 trackers are still in Natin, who are being brought to the district headquarters.
2- 02 trackers have reached Silla village after tracking. They are being brought to District Hospital Uttarkashi via Bhatwadi by rescue team and ambulance. Both are normal.
3-05 bodies were brought to Natin helipad through Army’s Cheetah helicopter. These bodies are being brought to District Hospital, Uttarkashi. Where Panchnama etc. proceedings will be done.
4- 10 members of the Forest Department, 02 Revenue Sub-Inspectors and 02 Home Guards, along with some people from village Silla, were sent to the site of incident this morning for search and rescue operation.
5- In the morning, 06 SDRF Jawans from Uttarkashi have been sent from Pinswad village of Tehri district to reach the site of incident. The distance of the trekking route from Budhakedar-Pinswaad village Tehri to the site of incident is about 7 km less.
6- 03 Forest Department and 01 local resident have left for the site of incident from Ghansali.
7- SDRF High Himalayan Rescue Team from Jolly Grant was sent this morning through 02 private helicopters for reconnaissance and relief rescue operations in the area. They assisted in the aerial rescue operation throughout the day.
8-A total of 05 mountaineering teams of Nehru Mountaineering Institute have been deployed in Laata village as backup for the rescue operation.
9- In this operation, two Cheetah helicopters of the army carried out the rescue work by making Matli and Natin helipads of the district as base and the trekkers rescued by 02 civil helicopters were sent from Natin to Sahastradhara Dehradun. While an army MI-17 helicopter has also been kept ready for action.
10- For the operation of heli services, the help of ITBP was taken at Matli helipad and Army at Harshil.
11- 14 soldiers under the leadership of a doctor and CO from ITBP Matli have also been sent to the incident site in the morning.
12- Along with activating the Primary Health Center, Bhatwadi as the base hospital for the rescue operation, a medical team was also deployed in Laata village.
13- Joshiada helipad has been activated at the district headquarters and fire brigade team has been deployed.
14- Rapid Action Team NDRF has been deployed at Matli helipad.
15- Block Development Officer and Naib Tehsildar have been deployed for coordination at Natin helipad.
16- Due to bad weather, heli rescue work has been stopped today. Heli rescue operation will be started again tomorrow morning.
17- District Magistrate Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht, Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi, Chief Development Officer Jai Kishan, Additional District Magistrate Raza Abbas, Sub-District Magistrate Bhatwadi Bujesh Kumar Tiwari, Chief Medical Officer Dr. BS Rawat, District Tourism Officer KK Joshi, Disaster Management Officer Devendra Patwal and other officers were present at the Emergency Operation Center since early morning and were engaged in directing, monitoring and coordinating the rescue work.
