Bengaluru May 20: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that despite BJP’s continuous slander, guarantees have reached people’s doorsteps. He explained along with the figures, that apart from the guarantees, money has been earmarked for development as well.
He was speaking to the media at the Meet the Press programme organized by the Bangalore Press Club on the occasion of completion of one year of the present government
Vijayendra, R.Ashok do not understand economics. That is why they are lying that the treasury is empty. We had said in the budget that we would spend 54374 crores. For development works other than guarantees. But we spent 56274 crores. That means we have spent more than what was stated in the budget, he explained along with the figures.
We had said in the budget that 16360 crores will be spent on irrigation. But we spent 18198 crores. We spent more than what was said.
We have also spent 9661 crores in the Public Works Department. He questioned whether it would have been possible to spend so much if the treasury was empty as per BJP’s statement.
We have given reservation for works up to one crore to Scheduled Caste/Class contractors for social welfare, reservation for Backward. SCSP/TSP Act was implemented by our Govt. Let Modi stop lying and answer as to why the BJP-ruled governments have not implemented the Act, the CM challenged.

According to the Chinnappareddy Commission report, Muslim reservation has been in place in the state for 30 years. The Bommai government has also submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court and has agreed that it will not cancel the reservation for Muslims. However, Modi is going around telling lies in his speeches. We have not taken away anyone’s reservation. So what Modi is saying is an absolute lie, he said.
BJP and Modi should stop inciting and misleading people for elections. People are aware of BJP’s lies, he said.
He explained that development work is going on in all departments including health, education, irrigation, social welfare and agriculture.
He explained that we have implemented guarantees to increase the purchasing power of the middle class and the poor who were suffering due to BJP’s price hike.
