Mysore, May 23: Minister M.B.Patil on Monday asserted that Siddaramaiah will remain as CM for five years.
“All this talk of change in CM after the 2024 Lok Sabha polls is not correct. There is no such thing,” M.B.Patil said after visiting Sri Suttur Mutt.
Clarifying that there is no such proposal before the High Command to change the Chief Minister immediately after the Parliamentary elections, Patil said AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal himself has said there is no such proposal before the party.
“A government and the Chief Minister are elected for five years,” Patil said and added, “there is a need for political stability and bureaucratic continuity which can be provided by the Chief Minister whose term should not have any uncertainty.”
Patil also clarified that the Congress High Command had not arrived at any ‘compromise’ formula while selecting the chief Minister.
“In a parliamentary democracy, there is no such policy as revolving door CM concept,” M.B.Patil added.
He recalled that Siddaramaiah had provided a political stable government between 2013 to 2018 and the state witnessed rapid economic progress.
“As we all are aware political stability is the pre-requisite to undertake developmental activities. We can ill-afford a political instability after having won 135 seats,” Patil explained.
