Bengaluru, May 13: AICC general secretary and Karnataka incharge Randip Singh Surjewala on Saturday said that his party’s fantastic victory in the May 10 elections has ensured BJP-mukt South India.
“With this defeat of the BJP in Karnataka, the BJP is now confined to the North of Vindhyas. It is now BJP – Mukt South India,” Surjewala said, in the maiden press conference after the Congress registered a victory.
According to Surjewala, this humiliating defeat of the BJP must make the ‘arrogant’ Modi to become humble and stop taunting his political opponents.

“With the BJP’s defeat, the 40 percent commission government has been thrown out by the people for good. The people of Karnataka have shown Modi his place,” the AICC general secretary added.
Surjewala described the Congress party’s victory as the victory of the people and that of democracy.
“The BJP has captured all the democratic institutions and using them for its political and electoral ends. Karnataka’s verdict is a fitting lesson and a slap on the face of BJP,” Surjewala said.
He attributed the party’s victory to the state leaders as well as to the workers who fought against the misrule of the BJP government and also put in tireless efforts during the elections.
“We will honour each and every promise that we have made in our manifesto. This is my word to the people of Karnataka,” Surjewala explained.
