Hubli, April 26: BJP supremo B. S. Yediyurappa has called upon his party leaders and workers to defeat Jagadish Shettar “at any cost”
“Shettar is a great betrayer. He should be defeated at any cost. Work 24X7 and see that he suffers a crushing defeat,” Yediyurappa told a meeting of his party leaders and workers here on Tuesday late evening.
Yediyurappa had specially gone to Hubli to firm up the party’s network to ensure that there is no lacuna or lapse in the fight against Shettar.
Later, speaking to the media Yediyurappa said Shettar has committed a grave sin. He is a great betrayer. There is no excuse and the BJP is determined to defeat him. “There is no question of patch-up with him either now or later. We will administer a humiliating defeat,” the former chief minister added.
Yediyurappa has been entrusted the task of strategizing the defeat of three leaders who deserted the party and crossed over to other parties – Jagadish Shettar, Lakshman Savadi and Ayanur Manjunath.
While Shettar and Savadi quit BJP and joined Congress, Ayanur Manjunath joined the JDS. All the three have managed to obtain tickets in their respective parties.
Yediyurappa said all the three leaders – Shettar, Savadi and Ayanur Manjunath – are immensely benefitted from the BJP.
“They have enjoyed political power to the maximum. They had no justification to quit the party. What these three leaders have done is nothing but great betrayal. We will defeat them at any cost,” Yediyurappa added.
