Bengaluru, April 25: BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath has taken up a meticulous campaign to create awareness among the people about the importance of voting.

The BBMP Chief Commissioner, who is also the District Electoral Officer (DEO), has been visiting hundreds of software companies, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), residential areas and educational institutions and meeting people in this mission.

“On an average, the polling in Bangalore city is around 55 percent, this way that four percent. This is far below when compared to rural areas. It is my intention to ensure that the polling percentage goes up to atleast 75 percent this time,” the BBMP Chief Commissioner said.

In all his interaction with the people, Tushar Girinath has been driving home the point that “the success of democracy is intrinsically linked to the people’s participation in the electoral process. Higher the participation, the success is more profound.”

The BBMP Chief Commissioner has visited Manyata Tech Park, ITPL, Electronics city, Bommanahalli, BTM Layout, Bellandur and several educational institutions such as Krupanidhi college, Vijaya College and Christ University.

“The response is good. There is curiosity among the first-time voters. They ask a lot of questions. Their inquisitiveness is positive, healthy and encouraging,” Tushar Girinath said, while speaking to The Newz Peg.

He had also participated in the Live Talk Show in DD Chandana recently where he eloquently replied to the pointed questions posed by the viewers.

Tushar Girinath has lined up interactions with RWAs, Software giants and educational institutions till May 6.

“I need to oversee the poll arrangements also. I am doing justice to both the tasks,” Tushar Girinath said.
