Shimoga, April 17: Describing the decision of Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar to join Congress as “most unfortunate and disturbing” senior BJP leader K. S. Eshwarappa has posed series of questions to the new convert Shettar.
“I still remember your heroic role in the Hubli Idgah maiden issue. You had opposed SDPI and PFI in the Assembly. Can you now defend PFI,” Eshwarappa has asked Jagadish Shettar.
On the issue of cow slaughter, Eshwarappa wants Shettar to come out in open whether he defends cow slaughter or oppose it. “You had spoken eloquently in the Assembly about the need to ban cow slaughter. What will you say now,” Eshwarappa has asked.
According to Eshwarappa, Shettar had hammered the Congress for its “politics of appeasment” and ignoring the interests of the majority Hindus. “Now are you ok with the politics of appeasement? Does not your conscience prick now,” Eshwarappa wanted to know.

“Today you say that you have not been given ticket to contest. But what about the previous posts given by the party to you. The party gave you the posts of Leader of the Opposition, Speaker, minister, party president and chief minister. Have you forgotten all these positions you enjoyed,” Eshwarappa asked.
Stating that lakhs of workers and people are pained by your “illogical, irrational and unjustifiable decision”, Esgwarappa said, “You will have to answer a lot to the people and workers in the next coming days. We will continue to embarrass you and prick your conscience day in and day out.”
Eshwarappa concluded the letter by stating that Shettar’s decision to quit the party was nithung short of betrayal, treachery and most unkindness cut of all.
“People of Karnataka will not excuse you,” Eshwarappa has said in his letter.
