Bengaluru, April 12: The Congress party in Karnataka has already started smelling success in the May 10 Assembly elections.

With rebellion growing day by day in the saffron party in the aftermath of the announcement of 189 candidates in the first list, the Congress is of the view that the BJP leaders “would work at cross purposes” in as many constituencies thus providing a clear edge to the Congress.

“But, Of Course, we are not depending on the BJP’s discomfiture to win. We will win on our own strength and on our own reputation and standing among the public,” Congress Vice President Prof Radhakrishna said, while speaking to The Newz Peg here on Wednesday.

Prof Radhakrishna said the BJP is incapable of handling any sort of internal crisis which is evident from the resignation of many senior leaders and cadre protesting on the streets. “Congress is a democratic party in the real-and-true-sense of the word. We are capable of handling any contingency. We are sure to win the elections with a comfortable majority,” he added.

He claimed that the Congress has been relentlessly fighting against the corruption and mal-administration of the BJP government in state and earned the goodwill of the people.

“The common man is waiting for the first available opportunity to throw this corrupt, inefficient and incompetent government lock, stock and barrel and dump the BJP in the dustbin of history, in so far as Karnataka is concerned,” Prof Radhakrishna explained.

Prof Radhakrishna is also the Vice Chairman of the Congress party’’s Manifesto Drafting Committee.

To a question, Prof Radhakrishna there is no problem for both Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar in their respective constituencies as they have the solid support and goodwill of the people.

He said BJP has only played a gimmick on its workers and cadre by fielding its so-called powerful leaders against our two leaders.

“Everyone knows what the ground reality of the BJP is in Kanakapura and Chamarajanagar. We are not perturbed at all,” Prof Radhakrishna said.
