Bengaluru, April 11: BJP National General Secretary B.L. Santosh has attempted to emulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah by effecting a drastic change in the list of candidates.

In this “surgical strike” Santosh has decided to axe as many 30 sitting MLAs and provide opportunity to new faces.

Out of these 30 sitting MLAs, most of them are being removed on account of anti-incumbancy factor, some on account of age and some on account of having become “dead wood”

It may be noted that Modi and Shah effected a last minute change in as many as 39 sitting MLAs in the last minute in the Gujarat Assembly elections recently.

The BJP won a handsome majority in Modi’s home state.

Santosh wants to do something similar in Karnataka – emulate Modi and Shah in order remove dead wood and infuse dynamism and vibrancy in the party.

Of Course, Santosh has taken a rather calculated risk in effecting the change. To what extent this RSS pointsman in BJP will succeed is a matter to be keenly watched.

Already, senior leaders such as Jagadish Shettar, Lakshman Savadi, Ranjan Appacchu, S. Angara are unhappy over this development.
