Bengaluru, April 5: Cine actor Sudeep will not join the BJP but shall campaign for some candidates suggested by me, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said here on Wednesday.
At a crowded press conference, Bommai said both he and Sudeep confidence and goodwill for a very long time.
“We have been through good and difficult times together in the past. We continue to do do even now. It is Sudeep’s good gesture that he has agreed to campaign for a few BJP candidates without, ofcourse, joining the party,” Bommai explained.

On his part, Sudeep said he has friends in all the political parties but has decided to campaign to the candidates suggested Bommai.
“As the chief minister said, we know each other very well for a very long time. He has been good friend in need for me during my difficult times. He stood for me. So, I thought I should stand by him,” Sudeep said.
Asked why he has not joined the BJP officially, Sudeep said he does not have any interest in active politics and would not like to be seen as a party functionary.
“My role is clear and precise. I will campaign for the candidates suggested by the Chief Minister. That’s it,” Sudeep added.
He clarified that he is not seeking ticket from the BJP. “There is no question of me contesting elections. When I am not joining the party, where is the question of taking ticket,” Sudeep added.
