Bengaluru, March 31: In the on-going electoral match between three parties – Congress, BJP and JDS – both BJP and JDS lost one wicket each on Friday.
While N.Y. Gopalakrishna of the BJP resigned from his membership of the assembly, A. T. Ramaswamy of the JDS quit the assembly. Gopalakrishna, who represented Kudligi constituency, submitted his resignation papers to Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri while Ramaswamy, who represented Arkalgud constituency in Hassan district, submitted his resignation papers to Ms Vishalakshi, Secretary of the Legislative Assembly.

Both Gopalakrishna and Ramaswamy are all set to return to their home party, the Congress. While the former had quit Congress due to internal differences and joined the BJP, Ramaswamy had quit Congress also due to local politics and had joined the JDS.
‘The atmosphere in BIP and JDS is suffocating,” both Gopalakrishna and Ramaswamy told reporters. While Gopalakrishna was closeted with Kageri for a long time during which he explained how he was ill-treated by the state leadership in BJP, Ramaswamy did not speak anything with the Secretary. He handed over the resignation papers and obtained acknowledgement.

With both Gopalakrishna and Ramaswamy going back to their old party, the Congress, it is the Grand Old Party (GoP) that is the winner in the cricket match being played by the three parties.
Of Course, the JDS is to receive some support from a Lingayat leader from Kalyana Karnataka region with Mallikarjuna Khuba all set to join the JDS in the first week of April after quitting BJP. Ironically, only local level leaders are joining the BJP while top and strong leaders are quitting the saffron party and joining other parties.
Though Ramaswamy has indicated that he will return to Congress, sources in the Congress, however, told The Newz Peg that the party high command has not yet given green signal to Ramaswamy. Now that he has resigned from the membership of the Assembly and not yet received green signal from Congress, speculation is rife that he might be toying with the idea of joining the BJP, but it is highly unlikely.
