Kalburgi, March 28: Taking a totally different stance from that of his mentor and leader B. S. Yediyurappa, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said the local Congress leaders in Shikaripura pelted the stones on the residence of former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa.
Speaking to reporters at Kalaburgi, BommI said that the CCTV footages from different vantage points reveal the identity of the local Congress leaders.
“The police are investigating the violent incidents. This is heinous and totally unacceptable. The truth will shortly come out and the Congress party leaders will have eggs on their face,” Bommai added.
He said he is in constant touch with the investigating authorities and was convinced about the pace and the direction of the investigation.

Bommai maintained that the Banjara community had no clue of what this internal reservation is all about.
“The previous night, the local Congress leaders went round the Banjara colony and spread false rumours that reservation for Lambanis has been removed. This misunderstanding led to violence. I charge the Congress party of inciting the innocent Banjara members and engineering the violence,” Bommai charged.
The chief minister said there is no question of sparing anybody who have taken law into their own hands. “If we don’t take action now in this issue, then some other community will also take law into their own hands and seek pardon. This is not acceptable,” Basavaraj Bommai added.
