Mumbai, March 27: The Mumbai has strongly deplored the public humiliation of journalist by Rahul Gandhi during the latter’s press conference in Delhi.
In a strongly worded statement issued by Mumbai Press Club President Gurbir Singh, the MPC said it becomes obligation on the part of the leader who call a press conference to reply to the questions.
“Instead, if the leader attributes motive and brands the journalist with a political party, then is is deplorable. Rahul Gandhi, instead of replying to a question posed by a journalist, has cast aspersions on the professional integrity of the concerned journalist. We strongly condemn this attitude,” the release stated.

It may be recalled that Rahul Gandhi admonished a journalist when he was asked about his conviction and subsequent disqualification.
“Why do pose as journalist and ask pro-BJP questions. Instead you become a BJP worker. Why this posture of a journalist,” Rahul Gandhi asked the journalist during his Saturday press conference at AICC headquarters.
The Mumbai Press Club further stated that this trend and tendency to browbeat and cast aspersions on journalists whenever an inconvenient questions are asked is increasing day by day.

“This is not a good sign. Political parties of all shades, hues and ideological background should respect the journalists irrespective of what questions they ask. We do not have any motive except to know the truth and the fact,” the Mumbai Press Club statement stated.
