Amritsar, March 25: Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh was all prepared with a flag, emblem, insignia and a militia to declare and announce the formation of a separate Sikh Nation. This was revealed by his supporters after a sustained interrogation, according to the Punjab Police.
Tejinder Singh Gill alias Gorkha Baba, the body-guard of Amritpal Singh, was subjected to custodial interrogation at Bhatinda where he disclosed the plans of his ‘master’ to declare a separate Sikh Nation. “Anandpur Khalsa Fauj (AKF) is the name of the separate militia which Amritpal Singh had formed. The Khalistan nation flag had something written in Urdu, which is a clear indication that he is under the influence of jihadi elements,” Amritsar SP Amneet Kondal told the media.
Significantly, it was in Anandpur Saheb, one of the holiest Sikh shrines in Punjab, the Babbar Khalsa International, a militant oufit, had declared the formation of separate Khalistan Nation way back in May 1986. This outfit had passed a resolution in Anandpur Saheb stating that “a separate Khalistan nation has taken birth”. The leaders of the outfit were gunned down by the Police in several encounters later.
Amritpal Singh had also planned to issue a separate currency in his separate Khalistan nation and the design of the currency was found during interrogation of Tejinder Singh Gill.
“Two Whatsapp groups in the name of AKF and Amritpal Tiger Force have been created. Members of the AKF, in hundreds, have been given training in weapons and fire-arms. This man had elaborate plans to disrupt peace, communal harmony and tranquility in Punjab,” the SP explained.
The cadres of the AKF were being given arms training including firing at a make-shift range near a river in Jallupur Kheda, the native village of Amritpal Singh.
“A 10-dollar Khalistani currency, suspected to have been printed in Pakistan and a driving license of a Pakistani national have also been seized from the arrested supporters of Amritpal. Now, it is beyond anybody’s doubt that this Amritpal Singh and his supporters are being propped, aided and abetted by our neigbouring enemy country,” the SP said.
