No. Her dance with saffron flag and saffron headgear and the slogans have nothing to do with the BJP. Instead, she was expressing her joy after inaugurating the statue of Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj at Rajahansagad fort in Belagavi Rural.
Lakshmi Hebbalkar, known for her dynamism and pro-active approach had taken a pledge that she would re-inaugurate the statue on Sunday after it was inaugurated by chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday.
The battle between BJP and Congress over the inauguration of Shivaji statue is not only for credit but it is electoral.
Belagavi Rural has about 50,000 Maratha votes. The entire Belagavi parliamentary constituency has about 2.20 lakh Maratha votes.
Both Congress and BJP are fighting for that crucial Maratha votes. It remains to be seen as to whom Shivaji Maharaj blesses in the April/May assembly elections and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
