Bengaluru, March 1: Demanding implementation of 7th pay commission report Karnataka state govt employees are going on an indefinite strike from March 1. It is expected that the state may witness a halt in the government services except emergency cases in health centers.

After the state budget of 2023-24, govt employees are irked with the fact that the Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has not mentioned a single line about implementing 7th pay commission report.
Association president CS Shadakshari, who attended a late-night meeting with CM Bommai to resolve the issue, said, “This is just a first round of meeting. We have not decided anything now. The CM was positive and told us that the government needs time. But it does not mean there is a conclusion. The strike will go on.”

After the meeting, Bommai said he has also asked the commission to give its report at the earliest. “Association members have expressed their views. We have made our stand clear. The government will discuss the matter with the finance department,” the CM said.
Due to the strike most of the govt services will be shut until the association calls it off. Services across all taluk and district centres, BBMP, govt schools and hospitals, Vidhana Soudha, Vikas Soudha and MS buidling will be affected.

BBMP, BWSSB, BDA offices, citizens seeking khata and other documents may not get their work done. Raitha Samparka Kendras will be shut where farmers are given fertilisers, seeds and other essentials.
Govt schools, colleges will not be working as teachers will take part in strike. Bus services are likely to be affected as KSRTC and other road transport employees will be part of the agitation.
