Bengaluru, February 28: The Congress party in Karnataka seems to be determined to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi head on on the issue of decreasing employment opportunities to the youths in the country.
Towards that end, the Congress is trying to evolve a formula where it blends the Youth Policy and the Industrial Policy to generate massive employment, not only metropolitan cities but more in the rural areas, especially tier II and tier III cities.
“Our focus and thrust will be to create employment opportunities in rural areas so that the migration towards cities will come down. The productivity will increase if the youths get opportunity to work in their respective places. We are trying to evolve a policy that blends both the youth policy as well as the industrial policy,” a senior Congress leader told The Newz Peg on the conditions of anonymity.
By doing so, the Congress would like to counter the BJP in general and Modi in particular on the issue of employment or rather decreasing employment opportunities due to what the Congress calls “lop sided priority” of the Prime Minister.

This will also enable the Congress to argue that Modi has been practicing crony capitalism favouring the big industrialists such as Ambani and Adani at the cost of rural youths. “We will show in Karnataka that there is employment potential in the state and also talented youth who need employment. Our thrust will be on rural places,” sources.
The Congress, in its manifesto, is likely to state that the government will enable the coming together of professional education and industries – both software and others – in order to choose the talented youths, mostly from the rural places. The Grand Old Party (GoP) seems to have made up its mind to expose the hollowness of the BJP in general and Modi in particular towards the youth and employment
When contacted by The Newz Peg, Prof Radhakrishna, Vice Chairman of the Manifesto Drafting Committee, refused to either confirm or deny the report. “You journalists obtain information from your own sources. But I cannot either confirm or deny this information,” he curtly said.
