Bengaluru, February 26: “A tale of two constituencies – Amethi and Varanasi – is the new cannon and fodder found by the BJP to pillory the Congress on the issue of development.
The state BJP has decided to bring out a picture – cum – text comparative table of the developments that have taken place in Amethi, the constituency represented by Rahul Gandhi and Varanasi, the Lok Sabha seat represented by Narendra Modi.

In order to nullify and demolish the possible arguments of the Congress that Varanasi gets preferential treatment because it is the PM’s constituency, the BJP will also provide figures pertaining to the amount spent by the “MPs” (Not PM) for developmental activities each year.
“Every MP, irrespective of the party, is provided Rs 2 crore Constituency Development Fund or what is popularly known as MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS). How much Modi has spent from his quota of funds and how much Rahul Gandhi has spent. We will provide the figures for the people to decide who is what,” state BJP general secretary and MLC N. Ravi Kumar told The Newz Peg.

This strategy of the BJP to present a comparative picture of two constituencies will enable the state BJP to argue for the need of the “double-engine government” to ensure rapid development works in the state.
“Congress is full of empty rhetoric and hollow promises. Whereas the BJP stands for meaningful and concrete development. This is what we will highlight through the comparative table and posters,” Ravi Kumar explained.
