Mangaluru, February 16: BJP leader and former MLC Captain Ganesh Karnick has urged Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to prevail upon the Tamil Nadu DMK government to conduct day to day trial of DMK councillor Chinnaswany for allegedly killing an Army soldier Prabhu in Krishnagiri recently.
In a strongly-worded letter written to Rajnath Singh, Captain Ganesh Karnick said it was most “savage, brutal and heinous” on the part of the DMK councillor to have beaten the soldier to death.

It may be recalled that Prabhu, an Indian Army soldier was thrashed and beaten by Chinnaswany and eight others including his two sons over a minor altercation in Krishnagiri. Prabhu, serving in Kashmir, had come home on a holiday.
Chinnaswamy and his followers barged into the residence of Prabhu and dragged him and his brother on to the road. “The mob kicked Prabhu and his elder brother. Later they thrashed him to the pulp. The family members rushed him to the hospital in Hosur. But he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday,” the family members told the media.
Captain Ganesh Karnik said, “My blood boils going by the savage incident. I feel outrageous. I am a law-abiding citizen. I have been a soldier. I know I it feels. I want nothing less than a death sentence to that fellow,” Captain Ganesh Karnik added.
He said he is in touch with the Tamil Nadu state BJP President Annamalai on this issue. “I am planning to organise a silent dharna to express solidarity with the family members of Prabhu and also against the DMK government,” he said
