New Delhi, January 28: Bharat is never tired of innovations. It looks like that the ministers and officials have fertile imagination to keep on innovating.
After successful launch of Vande Bharat Express trains that are high-speed, the Ministry of Railways is planning to come out with mini Vande Bharat trains with eight coaches for short trips.
The normal version of Vande Bharat trains have 16 coaches.

Mini Vande Bharat trains will be almost similar to Metro trains that runs with six or eight cars. However, unlike Metro trains, Mini Vande Bharat trains will cover various cities in a distance of 250 to 350 Kms.
If everything goes as per the plan, the Railways will roll out the eight-car mini Vande Bharat express trains in the month of April. It is planned to cover commercial cities.
The Ministry of Railways has directed the Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and the Lucknow-based Research Design and Standard Organization (RDSO) to roll our the rakes of eight-car Vande Bharat trains at the earliest.
“The shorter version of Vande Bharat trains is being experimented by the Railways to provide safer and swift journey of short distance. This service is likely to be introduced between cities with the distances of 250 to 300 ir 400 Kms,” a Railway ministry official said.

This short distance, high-speed trains between two commercial cities will help the traders, businessmen and officials who frequent the cities often.
Moreover, Vande Bharat rakes of eight cars is being manufactured as a Proof of Concept (POC) that can be further upgraded to 12 or 16 or 24 car formation.
