Bengaluru, January 28: Continuing its relentless campaign against the BJP government and establish good rapport with the people, the Congress has taken up two tasks to be executed simultaneously.
While on one hand the Congress will issue guarantees card to show its commitment about providing 200 units of free electricity and offering Rs 2000 to women head of the household, the Grand Old Party will also distribute charge-sheet against the misrule and corruption of the state BJP government.
“The two campaigns will run simultaneously. The two objectives are to create a feel-good factor in favour of the Congress and expose the BJP’s maladministration. This is something unique” a top leader told The Newz Peg.
The Congress party has opened several kiosks in front of KPCC office where party workers will distribute both the guarantee card as well as the charge-sheet.
“But the main task is to reach out to voters by knocking on the doors of the people. We will appeal to the voters politely with folded hands to understand the failure of the BJP government and Congress party’s commitment for the welfare of the poor, the downtrodden and weaker section of the society,” sources explained.
Congress is of the view that economic benefits such as 10-kg rice, Rs 2000 as dole and free electricity to the tune of 200 units have already caught the imagination of the people.
“The BJP has nothing to offer. The saffron party is rattled. It is at the cross-roads. We will continue to announce many more welfare measures in the next coming days,” sources explained.
One more important reason to conduct door-to-door campaign is to galvanise and activate the cadre at the grassroot level.
The Grand Old Party is also of the view that the economics welfare measures is an effective weapon to hit the BJP’s communal campaign.
“People are interested to know what they will get to eat and live. Ideology cannot and will not work with empty stomach. We will drive home this point,” said a leader who has tasked with preparing the election manifesto.
