New Delhi, January 26: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) continued its efforts to reach out to the Muslim community with its key leaders meet second-line leaders of the Muslim community on Tuesday.
Key RSS leaders Indresh Kumar, Ram Lal and Krishna Gopal held a three-hour long meeting with the Muslim leadership at the residence of Najeeb Jung, Former Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
Representatives from prominent Muslim organizations such as Jamaat-E-Islami Hind, Jamaat-E-Ulaima-Hind and Ajmer Dargah Salman Chisti took part in the meeting.

The recent meeting was sequel to an interaction in August last year when RSS Sarasanghachalak Mohan Bhagawat met Najeeb Jung, S. Y. Querishi, former Election Commissioner, Saeed Sherwani, a hotelier and Shahid Siddiqui, a journalist. Siddiqui is also former MP of Rashtriya Lok Dal.
All the above mentioned leaders were present in the recent meeting, according to sources.
RSS is of the view that “a larger positive message” should be sent to the country through continued dialogue in ‘a constructive and meaningful manner’.

The RSS leaders sought to ‘clarify and put it in proper perspective’ the recent interview of Mohan Bhagawat where he is reported to have spoken about the Muslim community’s “boisterous rhetoric of supremacy”

The RSS – Muslims interaction comes around the time Prime Minister Narendra Modi made overtures towards the community by asking his party leaders to have dialogue with the Pasmanda, Bohra and educated Muslims.
Modi had also asked the cadre to desist from making hate speeches towards Muslim members or target any films.
