Thiruvananthapuram, January 25: Anil Anthony, son of Former Defence minister A.K. Anthony, has resigned from all the posts he held in Kerala Congress.
In a tweet addressed to Shashi Tharoor, Anil Anthony said “I think it would be better if I get out of this stifling atmosphere where I don’t have freedom to express my views.”

What warranted Anil Anthony to take this decision is interesting.
Anil Anthony had tweeted against BBC documentary that has portrayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in bad light over Gujarat riots issue.
Anil Anthony had said in his tweet, “Despite differences with the BJP, I think it is not correct to place views in favour of BBC. BBC is a state-sponsored channel with long history of prejudices and of Jack Straw. This brain behind Iraq war…I think it sets a dangerous precedence”
The Congress high command took objection to Anil Anthony’s this tweet and asked him to withdraw his tweet.
Instead of withdrawing his tweet, Anil Anthony chose to withdraw himself from all the posts and responsibilities in Kerala Congress. He held the post of Convenor IT Cell of Kerala Congress and was also a part of the Social Media Department.

“I will rather pursue something else worth while in those areas where I will not be stifled. I have unique strength of my own and i think i can do better there on my own” Anil Anthony’s tweet stated and added, “Treat this tweet as my resignation letter”
Meanwhile, the BJP has received this development as ‘music to its ears’. The BJP media cell was quick to share Anil Anthony’s tweet resigning from the posts in Kerala Congress.
