Srinagar/New Delhi, January 25: “The party disapproves Digvijay Singh’s remarks on surgical strikes. It’s ridiculous, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said.
“Digvijay Singh’s views are his personal. The Congress party’s views are final. The party’s views are above the personal views,” Rahul Gandhi said, in response to questions during Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir.

Rahul Gandhi further said that the Congress party is crystal clear that the armed forces do not have to give proof if their actions. “I don’t agree with Digvijay. I feel sorry to say these things against a senior leader but I cannot agree with him,” Rahul Gandhi added.
It may be recalled that Digvijay Singh had said that the Army or the Union government did not provide proof for conducting the surgical strikes across the border in response to Pulwama attack.
To a question as to why action was not taken against Digvijay Singh, Rahul Gandhi said Congress party was democratic and works in the principles of cooperation and understanding. “We don’t work on coercion. We are democratic and not dictatorship,” Rahul Gandhi explained.
On the BJP’s charge that there is Pakistan in Congress DNA, Rahul Gandhi said it was the Congresd that got Independence and it was Congress government that build institutions on the basis of which the country was built.

“BJP’s charge against Congress is meaningless,” Rahul Gandhi added. Meanwhile, the BJP is unrelenting on Digvijay Singh’s remarks on surgical strike.
“We will take the issue to the people. Questioning the credibility of Army is atrocious. Congress is a habitual offender when it comes to insulting the Army,” former union law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, in a tweet.
