Bengaluru, January 21: ‘The upcoming polls to the state Assembly is a battle between the ideals of Gandhi represented by Congress and Godse represented by the BJP, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council B.K.Hariprasad said here on Friday.
Speaking at the ‘Meet the Press’ programme organized by the Press Club of Bangalore, Hariprasad said the Congress wants unity of minds and development but BJP insists on divisive politics and emotional issues.

“Congress wants to give pen, pencil and paper to the students. But the BJP asks the youth to keep talwar, swords and knife. This is the qualitative difference between the Congress and BJP,” Hari Prasad said.
Charging the BJP of shying away from the debate on the matters related to development, Hari Prasad said, “Congress harps on development of the state with inclusive politics whereas the BJP harps on stoking communal fire and speaks on emotional issues”
Hari Prasad quoted BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel’s recent statement that the BJP workers must speak loudly on love-jihad issue and not to bother on roads and infrastructure.
“This us the difference between the Congress and BJP,” the Congress leader added.
Hari Prasad charged Prime Munister Narendra Modi of carrying on ‘political tourism’ to Karnataka instead of fulfilling the promises he made during the previous elections.

“He (Modi) visited Gujarat ten times and Himachal Pradesh six times. Now, he has visited Karnataka twice in 10 days. This shows that Modi and BJP are rattled,” Hari Prasad added.
When his attention was drawn towards Modi’s recent statement that the BJP cadre should reach out to the Muslims, Hari Prasad described it as ‘poll gimmick’.
“I have studied the political jathaka of both Modi and Amit Shah. They both spew venom, hardness and are communal-minded,” Hari Prasad added.
