New Delhi, January 15: The Nutrition Advocacy in Public Interest – India (NAPI) has written to Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan not to promote a particular biscuit which, according to NAPI, is unhealthy.
NAPI is a think-tank consisting of independent medical experts, nutritionists and pediatricians.
NAPI members have also requested Big B not to endorse any ultra processed food products in future too.
The NAPI had earlier written to Amitabh Bachchan who has been ad writing for Britannia Milk Bikis.
“NAPI sincerely requests you not to endorse this product as well as any other products in future that can be labelled as ultra processed food products or high fat/sugar and salty food products,” the letter dated 11th January, stated.

According to NAPI, any food product that contains more than 10 percent of sugar or salty or saturated fat is unhealthy and is considered HFSS (High fat/sugar and salty) product.
The letter further stated that NAPI is surprised as well as shocked that you (Big B) has endorsed Britannia Milk Bikis through a KBC junior commercial, a children’s programme, aired on TV, YouTube and other social media platforms”
Among others, the letter was signed by Dr Vandana Prasad, Community Paediatrician, Joint Convenor of Jan Swasthiya Abhiyan and also the National Convenor for Public Health Resource Network.
