Mangaluru Medical College Drug Racket: Two medicos arrested

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru city police have arrested three more persons, including a doctor and a pharmacy student in connection with drug use and peddling taking the total arrests so far in the case to 13.
The arrested persons have been identified as a final-year pathology student at Kasturba Medical College, a final-year pharmacy student from Kochi and Mohammed Afrar from Mangaluru who works at a fruit shop, police said.
Among the arrests are three doctors, six medical students, including four women and a pharmacy student. The remaining persons are drug peddlers, the police added.
Earlier it was reported that the city police had arrested ten people, including an overseas citizen of Indian origin, a surgeon, a medical officer, MBBS, and dental students on the charges of alleged consumption and peddling of ganja. Of them, two are doctors, seven are medical/dental students from three professional colleges in the city, hailing from various States, and four of them women.
The Mangaluru police had first arrested Neel (38), an Indian-origin person, last week in connection with alleged drug peddling in his flat. He has been residing in Mangaluru for the last 15 years and was a fourth-year student of a dental college in the city.
