Maharashtra, Jan 13: At least 10 people were killed and several others were injured after a bus carrying Sai Baba devotees collided with a truck near Pathare Nashik-Shirdi Highway on Friday morning.
The accident occurred around 7 am near Pathare Shivar in Nashik`s Sinnar tehsil, around 180 km from Mumbai.
The deceased, including seven women, were among the 45 passengers of the luxury bus that was on its way to Shirdi. As per information, 17 people suffered serious injuries in the accident and have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police said that the bus was carrying around 45 devotees and was headed to Shirdi from Ambernath in the Thane district of Maharashtra. After receiving the information about the incident, the senior police officers rushed to the scene and are carrying out rescue operations.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde expresses condolences on the loss of lives in the accident and announces ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs each to the families of the deceased.

The CM has also ordered relevant authorities to conduct an investigation into the incident.
