New Delhi, December 28: Lt-Gen B. S. Raju, Vice Chief of Army Staff on Tuesday visited Sir Creek area and Rann of Kutch, the two sensitive places bordering Pakistan in the state of Gujarat.
Both Sir Creek and Rann of Kutch shares a 98-Kms border line with Pakistan in the marshy lands of the region.
“The visit to these forward areas to review the defence preparedness of the troops at the ground level. The Vice Chief of the Army also interacted with ground commanders,” a statement from the Army Headquarters stated.

Both Indian Army and Pakistan Army had clashed in the region of Sir Creek and Rann of Kutch. The border at this point is still under dispute since 1947.

The 98-Kms long strip of water has always been a bone of contention between India and Pakistan.
During his interaction with the troops, Lt-Gen Raju complimented the soldiers for their dedication, professionalism and their determination to guard the borders at the most inhospitable terrain.
It is through these two areas – Sir Creek and Rann of Kutch – Pakistani fishermen sneak into Indian waters and hence highest vigilance is required.
