Bhubhaneshwar, December 28: The Orissa government has ordered CID probe into the death of Pavel Antov, an MLA in the Vladimir province of Russia.
Antov was the severest critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the issue of war against Ukraine. Antov and his friend Byadaniv Vladimir had checked into a hotel in Rayagada district in Orissa state.

“On December 22, Byadanov was found dead in his hotel due to heart attack. Two days later, Antov fell off the parapet wall from his room. He was found dead in a pool of blood. After the police got to know his identity, the government ordered a CID enquiry,” Sunil Kumar Bansal, DG & IGP of Orissa state said.
A top official explained, “Given the fact that Antov was the bitterest critic of the Russian President, we do not want to leave anything to chance that gives scope for speculations. It is the question of bilateral relations between two countries.”
Byadinov was cremated in the presence of the officials of the Russian embassy. Two days after Byadinov’s death, Antov fell off from the roof top.
The Consulate General of Russia based in Kolkata is monitoring the probe with the Orissa police.
