Srinagar, (J & K), December 27: Democratic Azad Party Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad has questioned the Centre’s “iron-hand” policy in the sensitive border state of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued at Srinagar, Azad said fighting militancy and terrorists is one thing and being harsh on the common man is another thing.

“This iron-hand policy has resulted in the harassment of innocent people and further alienating them from the mainstream. This could prove dangerous in the long run,” Azad said.
In his view, the state and Union governments should evolve a policy and action-plan which should be “firm with the terrorists and fair with the people”.
According to Azad, the people in Kashmir valley has started to think if there is any police raj in the state.
“If the fruits of development has to reach the people, then there should be participation of the common man in the developmental process,” Azad reasoned.

Azad visited some villages in South Kashmir and interacted with the people who complained of excessive and repeated police searches in the guise of isolating terrorists.
