Bangalore, Dec 21: The Centre has directed all the states and Union territories to step up vigil on Covid cases following fresh outbreak of cases in several countries including Japan, US and Brazil.
In a letter sent to all the Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries of Health Department of all states, the Union health secretary has said that “it is imperative to undertake early detection, isolation, testing and treatment of suspected and confirmed cases in order to contain the outbreak”.
Further the Centre wants the states to intensify the five-fold strategy of “fast-track-treat-vaccination-adherence to appropriate Covid behavior” to ensure that there is no spread of the variants.
The letter also states that the samples of SARS – Cov – 2 should be sent to genomics consortium in order to undertake “study the pattern of the variant” and take preventive steps.
