New Delhi, Oct.18: The Supreme Court of India, on Monday delivered its verdict on the two pleas preferred by BJP leaders Manoj Tiwari and Vijender Gupta challenging Delhi High Court’s rejection to nullify the summoning order passed by Magistrate Court pertaining to a defamation case filed by Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi.
In 2019 Sisodia filed a defamation case against BJP leaders for making purportedly defamatory statements about him being corrupt and his indulgence in corruption of approximately Rs 2,000 crore in the class room construction in Delhi Government schools.
Bench of Justices S Abdul Nazeer and V Ramabsubramanian, reserved the judgment on 22 September 22. It stated that it had declined Manoj Tiwari’s appeal but allowed appeal of Vijender Gupta.
The Court concluded that upon perusal of Gupta’s tweets it could not be discerned that Sisodia was a corrupt man.
