Fresh FIR registered against Murugha Sharanaru under POCSO Act

Mysuru, Oct 14: Two more minor girls have filed a sexual assault complaint against Shivamurthy Sharanaru of Murugha Mutt based on which the Mysuru police have registered an FIR under POCSO act against the seer.

Two girls with the help of a Mysuru-based NGO ‘Odanadi Seva Samsthe’ had filed a complaint on Thursday night. The two minors are children of Murugha Mutt workers. According to the FIR accessed by, two children were sexually assaulted between January 2019 and June 2022.

Seven people including the seer, and hostel warden Rashmi have been named in the FIR. The case is in the process of being transferred to Chitradurga Rural Police Station after which a fresh FIR will be registered.

In August, two minor girls had approached the same NGO and accused the seer of sexual assault. Based on which an FIR was lodged and was transferred to Chitradurga Rural Police Station.The two girls were studying in one of the institutions run by the Mutt.

Six days after registering an FIR, the police had arrested the seer on September 1. In the first FIR, a total of five people including the seer were named. The seer had approached for bail but was rejected by the local court. The seer is currently in judicial custody till October 21.
