Chitradurga, September 2: Murugha Mutt Seer Shivamurthy Sharana, has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. He has been charged with sexually abusing minor girls in Mutt premises.
Chitradurga Superintendent of Police K Parashuram said that he would be taken again into police custody for further investigation.
Speaking to the Chitradurga SP K Parashuram said that, he would be taken again into police custody for further investigation.
“We will move an application in the court today seeking custody of the seer. The hostel warden, who is the second accused in the case, was arrested yesterday and is being questioned. We are issuing notice to the three other accused for questioning.” he said.
The seer was taken to Challekere as the investigation continues to preserve law and order in the town. If a situation arises that warrants it, the prison officials will take a decision to transfer the accused to a different jail, he said.

After Murugha Sharanaru was questioned for several hours, he developed some health complication soon after he was sent to jail. Accordingly, he was taken to the district hospital for check-up.
Reportedly, seer has complained about having pain in chest and he is being treated by the doctors at Chitradurga district hospital. He could be shifted to Bengaluru’s Jayadeva hospital if the condition gets critical, said sources.
