BJP parliamentary board: Gadkari, Shivraj Chouhan out, Yediyurappa in

New Delhi, August 17: The Bharatiya Janata Party carried out an organisational rejig on Wednesday, dropping Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from its parliamentary board. The exclusion of Gadkari, who is one of the senior most members and a former BJP chief, has come as a completely unexpected development.
In another surprise move, Karnataka former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was inducted in the top decision-making body. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who has also served as a former BJP chief, was brought back into the parliamentary board.
Former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was also named in the parliamentary board, which is the highest decision making body of the party. Sonowal has also been named in the Central Election Committee. K Laxman, national president for Bharatiya Janata Party’s OBC Morcha, was also a new entrant.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also included in the election committee. The board, headed by the party’s national president JP Nadda, will now include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, B S Yediyurappa, Sarbanand Sonowal, K Lakshman, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Sudha Yadav, Satyanarayan Jatiya and B L Santosh.
