CM Eknath Shinde Camp MLA Uday Samant’s Car Attacked In Pune; CM Vows Strict Action

Mumbai, August 03: Rebel Shiv Sena MLA and former Maharashtra minister Uday Samant, who is part of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction, claimed that a group of unidentified people attacked his car at a traffic signal in Katraj area here on Tuesday night.
A source close to him said that Samant, one of the 40 Shiv Sena MLAs who supported Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, had come to Pune to attend Shinde’s program. Samant said that CM Shinde’s convoy had passed through the same route shortly before the attack.
Shiv Sena MLA Uday Samant said, “This is a condemnable incident. This kind of politics doesn’t happen in Maharashtra. They (the attackers) had baseball sticks and stones. The CM’s convoy was going ahead of me. Police will investigate whether they were following me or CM Eknath Shinde. ” He said that “I will not be afraid of such incidents. I have spoken to CM Eknath Shinde and told him about the incident. Police will investigate the whole matter.”
The window glass of the car in which Samant was traveling was damaged in the attack. A video of people shouting slogans and trying to surround Samant’s car is going viral on social media.. Samant told a Marathi news channel that when his convoy stopped at a traffic signal, two vehicles came near him and his car was attacked by several people with rods and baseball batons. Samant said, “They deliberately attacked my car as per a pre-determined strategy. They were probably chasing me and CM Shinde’s convoy. When the incident happened, the CM’s convoy had already moved. There is a doubt. That someone must have tracked me down. CM’s route.”

After the incident, Maharashtra CM Shinde said that this is an act of cowardice. There is no bravery in pelting stones and running away. It is our responsibility to maintain law and order. If anyone tries to disrupt law and order, strict action will be taken against him. Everyone should maintain peace, but still if someone disturbs the peace, the police will take action themselves. He further said that everyone should maintain communal and social harmony in the state. If someone is not doing this then the police will take action against him.
