Bengaluru: District Kannada Sahitya Parishad in Bengaluru has decided to immediately suspend the State Textbook review committee chairman Rohith Chakratirtha from its membership. It is alleged that Rohit’s comments on poet laureate Kuvempu and the state anthem were derogatory and many pro-Kannada activists had demanded to expel him from the Textbook review committee.
The decision was taken at the meeting of the Parishad held at Chamarajapete on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by the Kannada Sahitya Parishad’s Bengaluru district president Prakash Murthy.

However, Charatirtha defended himself by saying that his Facebook post was not originally written by him. It was a WhatsApp forward that he had posted on his Facebook wall. He had also refused to step down from the position of State Textbook review committee Chairman.
