Haveri (Karnataka), Dec. 10: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said that the state police Chief and all top cops have been instructed to take ‘tough legal action’ against anyone who posts derogative messages about the death of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat.
India’s first Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others were killed after the Indian Airforce’s Mi-17V5 helicopter came down in Nilgiris hills near Coonoor city in Tamil Nadu on (December 8) Wednesday. The lone survivor, an Air Force Group Captain, is being treated for severe burns in Bengaluru Command Hospital since Thursday.
Strongly condemning actions of few persons with ‘perverted minds’ for tweeting derogative, celebratory messages about the death of General Rawat, Mr Bommai told reporters that every Indian should strongly condemn ‘such pervert acts’ against the man who led the armed forces to defend the country for more than four decades.
He was interacting with media persons in Shiggavi, after casting his vote in the Legislative Council election from local bodies’ constituency.

“Such perversion cannot be tolerated and anyone indulging in such acts must be punished. Those culprits who posted such perverted, derogatory tweets should be traced and legal action will be initiated against such persons,” he warned.
Conveying his deep condolences to Gen Rawat and 12 others who were killed in the crash, the Chief Minister said that he has visited Group Captain Varun Singh, at the Command Hospital in Bengaluru after the lone survivorin the chopper crash was shifted from Sulur airbase in Tamil Nadu to Bengaluru Command Hospital on Thursday.

“The critically injured soldier is getting the best medical treatment by a team of specialist doctors. I pray for his speedy recovery,” Mr Bommai said.
On the detection of fresh cases of bird flu in the Kuttanad region of Kerala, he said that precautionary measures have been taken in the state besides monitoring supply of necessary vaccines and medicines to tackle this disease.
