Bengaluru, March 22: CS B. Narasimhan, President, The Institute of Company Secretaries Of India (ISCI) on Friday said that CS course being conducted by the Institute has received global recognition.
“In fact, the UGC is mulling to have meaningful ties with our institute,” Narasimhan added, while speaking to reporters on the eve of 2nd National Women Seminar on the subject ‘inspire women leadership – accelerate progress’ being conducted at Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway here on Friday.
He disclosed that the Institute had a detailed discussion with UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar on Thursday. “He is very keen to know in detail the courses offered by our Institute. UGC has expressed its desire to know something more outside the regular course under the New Education Policy. This is, however, in the initial stages. “I am confident that this interaction will flower into a partnership between the two ions,” Narasimhan added.
Stating that investment market will play a significant role in institutional affairs, investors are the backbone to this venture.
“The most important task is to create awareness about the security of money in the Corporate sector. In this background, the UGC has asked us to provide the details of the courses and the teaching faculty,” he explained and added, “The UGC wants to know the teaching ability of the faculty. There is also a scope for the faculty to work as Guest Lecturers in various universities throughout the country.”
According to Narasimhan, this partnership between the Institute and UGC will turnout to become a win-win situation to both.
ICSI, as on today, has entered into a partnership with Science Olympiad Association, Bird Education Ltd and International Olympiad Foundation.
“We have partnered with IIMs and National Law School University. ICSI is evaluating and reforming its text books once in five years. The same is being upgraded in tune with the development of Technology and the country. Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and other new subjects are being explored,” Narasimhan explained.
He further said that ICSI has given thrust to social responsibility with the Institute giving 100 percent exemption to the Soldiers serving in Defence and Para-Military forces if they want to pursue any of these courses.
“We have set up a corpus found which is being utilized to the students who have lost their parents,” Narasimhan added.
Dwarakanath Chinnur, Central Council Member, in his address said, in the institutional affairs sector arbitration tribunals are being set up.
“The first such International Centre was established at NOIDA which started its work last month. Such centers will be opened in Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad shortly. The preparation will begin next month to open Bengaluru Centre which will commence its operations in coming August. These arbitrary tribunals will lessen the burden on courts,” Narasimhan explained.
Devika Satyanarayana, Vice Chairperson of ICSI Bangalore Chapter said, in her address said, a two-day national women’s conference has been organised with the theme “Inspiration to Women Leadership-Fast-Paced Development” where discussion will Centre around women need to adopt technology in order to make their work less cumbersome.
“Experts will throw light on various women-related issues on the professional front,” Devika Satyanarayana added.
ICSI Vice-President Dhananjay Shukla, ICSI Secretary Ashish Mohan, SIRC Chairman Pradeep B Kulkarni, Bengaluru Chapter Chairman Venkata Subbarao were present in the press conference.
